Guilford High School rehearses for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Director Cara Mulqueen-Teasdale holds one of the dresses and had this to say "Although the entire wardrobe for GHSTA's Sweeney Todd was designed and built by GHS students and their adult advisor, GHSTA was gifted two costumes from the original Broadway production. These two dresses were designed by Franne Lee for the Original 1979 Broadway production of Sweeney Todd. Ms. Lee won the Tony Award for her designs for Sweeney Todd that year. The dresses were designed for Angela Lansbury who originated the role of Mrs. Lovett. The red one is a a silk print with black lace inserts and gold trim and was worn for the number "God, That's Good!" and the white lace dress below was worn for the the number "Not While I'm Around." Both will be worn by Anastacia Mirrione who plays the role of Mrs. Lovett in the GHSTA production". Photo by Kelley Fryer/The Courier | Buy This Photo
