East Haven High School has opened its own art gallery called Gallery 35, located just outside the auditorium of the high school. An opening reception was held on Nov. 16.

Matt Stevens, director of Gallery 35 and art teacher at the high school, said he started the process of opening the gallery about a year ago. He said the gallery will probably have three or four shows per year.

“To start, I’m going to rotate between professional artists and then student artists…so that the student artists can share the space with the professional artists and sort of feel part of the larger arts community,” Stevens said.

Currently on display at the gallery is work from local artist Susan Clinard, which will be there from now until Jan. 16, 2018. The next show will feature exhibits from students in February 2018.
