Golf Earns a Win, Girls’ Lacrosse Takes an Overtime Loss

The North Haven girls’ lacrosse team traveled to Berlin for an out-of-conference tilt on April 27. For the second time in three games, the team fell in overtime.
The Nighthawks jumped out to an early three-goal lead with goals by seniors Cat Bianchi, Sydney Pitcher, and Nola Coyle. Berlin recovered, but North Haven held an 8-6 lead at the half. Junior Emily Shea was stellar in the net, making an incredible 20 saves over the course of the game. She was assisted with strong defensive efforts by seniors Malika Gazzarapu, Kylie Pollard, and Ava Chagnon.
North Haven extended its lead to 15-8 in the third quarter with Bianchi, Pitcher, and Coyle filling the net, along with fellow senior Madisen Karavas and junior Clare Cullagh.
Berlin came storming back in the last quarter, putting together a run that had them in front 17-16 in the game’s final minute. A thrilling run by Bianchi that resulted in the game-tying goal with one second remaining sent the game to overtime.
Ultimately, in the sudden victory overtime format, Berlin netted the game-winner with 19 seconds left in the first overtime session.
Golf
The North Haven golf team traveled to Jonathan Law on April 29 and won 153-191. James Sagnella was the medalist for the match with a 36. Will Sagnella scored a 37, Logan Wells earned a 38, and Ben Cruz recorded a 42 on the course.
Baseball
North Haven baseball hosted Daniel Hand on May 1 and fell 5-1. Dom DeSimone recorded a double in the contest.
