Girls’ Tennis Wins Twice, Baseball Grabs Two Victories
Girls’ Tennis
The Westbrook girls’ tennis team opened the season on April 1, hosting Haddam-Killingworth. The Knights recorded a 7-0 win in the match. Earning victories in singles were Megan Bache (6-0, 6-0), Ana Heringer (6-2, 6-4), Anna Landino (4-6, 7-5, 6-2), and Emily Bonner (6-3, 6-2).
Olivia Palumbo and Lotta Kuenning earned a victory at No. 1 doubles (6-0, 6-0), while the No. 2 doubles team of Natalie Palumbo and Giovanna Silva won 6-0, 6-0. The No. 3 doubles pairing of Norah Hayden and Neave Hinckley also won 6-0, 6-0.
The team then traveled to Cromwell on April 5 and won 6-1. Bache grabbed a win at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-1), and Landino won in the third singles spot (6-3, 6-2). Bonner competed at No. 4 singles and won 6-1, 6-1.
The Knights recorded victories in all three doubles matches. These were earned by Olivia Palumbo and Kuenning (6-0, 6-0), Natalie Palumbo and Silva (6-0, 6-0), and Hayden and Hinckley (6-0, 6-0).
Boys’ Tennis
Westbrook boys’ tennis traveled to Haddam-Killingworth on April 1 and won 7-0. Singles victories came from Elliot Koplas, Miles Hayden, Yareth Antunez, and Evan Lessard.
On April 4, the team hosted Cromwell and won 6-1.
Baseball
Valley Regional/Westbrook baseball started the season at East Hampton on April 1 and won 14-0.
The team then hosted Cromwell on April 5 and won 8-7.
Softball
Westbrook/Old Saybrook softball traveled to Haddam-Killingworth on March 30 and fell 13-1.
The team then hosted Whitney Tech on April 1 and grabbed a 14-0 win.
The team hit the road to Hale Ray on April 5 and lost 19-0.
