North Branford Softball Snaps Impressive Winning Streak; Boys’ Lacrosse Wins in OT
Baseball
T-birds baseball continued its winning ways last week, winning all three contests. The team hit the road to Moodus on April 24 to take on Hale Ray in a 13-1 win. They returned home on April 26 to host Westbrook, defeating the visitors 5-2. On April 28, they went back on the road to Old Saybrook, winning 12-0. The T-birds are now 9-3.
Boys’ Lacrosse
Boys’ lacrosse edged out a win in overtime last week, defeating Haddam-Killingworth 7-6. The team is now 6-2.
Girls’ Lacrosse
T-birds girls’ lacrosse snapped up a pair of wins last week before stumbling in a road loss. The team traveled to Old Lyme on April 24, defeating their hosts 10-9. They returned home on April 27, hosting Haddam-Killingworth in a 17-12 win. They fell on April 29 at Canton, 14-4. The T-birds are now 6-2 for the season.
Softball
Softball’s impressive undefeated streak came to an end last week, after the team racked up its 11th victory of the season. On April 24, the team hosted Hale Ray in a decisive 12-0 victory. They defeated Valley Regional on April 25 by a 12-0 margin. The T-birds hit the road on April 26, defeating Westbrook 18-1 for their 11th consecutive victory. On April 28, the team returned home to host NFA, falling 9-0. The team is now 11-1.
Boys’ Tennis
On April 24, the East Haven boys’ tennis co-op team took a 0-7 loss at Wilbur Cross. The team then traveled to Career Magnet the next day and grabbed a 4-3 victory before falling 0-7 at home vs. Shelton on April 28. Junior Lucas DeAntonio travels with the team and competes in the Yellowjackets’ matches as a Team of One for North Branford.
Girls’ Tennis
North Branford girls’ tennis had a tough week, losing both its matches. On April 24, the Thunderbirds played host to Cromwell and lost 1-6. On April 26, Old Saybrook came to town and defeated the hosts North Branford by a score of 5-2. The T-birds are now 0-9 on the season.
