Warriors’ Swimming and Diving Collects Defining Win over Foran/Law
On Jan. 3, the Greater New Haven Warriors boys’ swimming and diving team faced Foran/Law at home, coming away with a 97-75 win. There were many first place finishes for the Warriors squad, including the 200 yard medley relay team, consisting of Joey Gould, RT Trotter, Alex Hansen, and Devin Lu. They recorded a team time of 1:54.82 in the event.
Sam Mayo placed first in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 2:00.37. Teammates Joey Gould and Kyle Januszewski finished in second and third, respectively. In the 200 yard IM, Aiden Cohen of Guilford took second place with a time of 2:16.13. Josue Bravo recorded a time of 24.61 in the 50 yard freestyle, good enough to claim second place.
Christian Butler placed first in the diving event, with a score of 266.40. Will Cong won the 100 yard butterfly, recording a time of 1:00.76. Joey Gould placed second in the 100 yard freestyle, with a time of 54.18. He finished only behind Jacob Collette, whose time was 52.19.
Kyle Januszewski took home first place honors in the 500 yard freestyle. Kyle’s time in this event was 6:00.87. The Warriors’ 200 yard freestyle relay team, consisting of Josue Bravo, Griffin McCarroll, Spencer Carroll, and Aiden Cohen, finished with a team time of 1:42.88, to hand the boys first place in the event.
The Warriors’ next meet will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 17, where they will face Cheshire at home at 4 p.m.
