Branford Girls’ Hoops Splits First Two Games; Boys’ Hockey Takes Two Losses

The Branford girls’ basketball team tipped off its first campaign with new Head Coach Aly Medeiros last week. The Hornets gained a split of their two games to start off the year with a mark of 1-1.
Branford began its season by playing a road game against the Sport & Medical Sciences Academy on Dec. 14. The Hornets won the contest by the score of 53-14 to pick up their first win with Coach Medeiros.
Three days later, Branford hosted Guilford for its first home game of the winter season. Branford took a 51-28 defeat against the Grizzlies to move to 1-1 on the young season.
Boys’ Ice Hockey
The Branford boys’ ice hockey team started off the 2021-’22 season by playing games against Glastonbury and Farmington Valley last week. The Hornets took losses in both matchups to open up the year at 0-2.
On Dec. 15, Branford hosted Glastonbury and took a 4-2 loss at Northford Ice Pavilion. Two days later, the Hornets played a road game versus Farmington Valley and lost by a 6-2 score at the International Skating Center of Connecticut.
