Westbrook Boys’ Soccer Shuts Out Harding; Girls’ Soccer, Field Hockey Take Defeats
Boys’ Soccer
The Westbrook boys’ soccer team picked up its second win of the year when the Knights posted a shutout over Harding last week. The Knights also took losses against East Hampton and Portland and have an overall record of 2-7 for the season.
On Sept. 27, Westbrook took a 3-0 road loss at East Hampton. Two days later, the Knights were on the road to face Harding and won the matchup by a 5-0 score. Then on Oct. 1, Westbrook hosted Portland and took a 3-1 defeat to the Highlanders. Sophomore Doug Perrone-Gray scored the lone goal of the game for Westbrook.
Girls’ Soccer
The Westbrook girls’ soccer squad lost both of its games on last week’s schedule and is now 1-7 on the year. The Knights took defeats versus East Hampton and Portland last week.
In its first game of the week, Westbrook dropped a 3-1 decision against East Hampton in a home game on Sept. 28. Two days later, the Knights played a home game versus Portland and lost to the Highlanders by a 6-0 score at Westbrook High School.
Field Hockey
The Westbrook-Old Lyme (W-OL) field hockey team took two defeats last week to move to 2-6 on the season. The Knights dropped contests against Morgan and Old Saybrook in last week’s action.
On Sept. 27, W-OL played a road game versus Morgan and took a 2-0 loss at the Indian River Complex. Three days later, the Knights hosted Old Saybrook and lost by a 7-0 score at Westbrook High School.
