H-K Boys’ Hoops Loses to Valley in OT; Gymnastics Off to Solid Start
Boys’ Basketball
The Haddam-Killingworth boys’ basketball team moved to 1-2 this year after taking a 60-56 overtime loss to Valley Regional in a home game on Feb. 16.
H-K held a 42-33 lead over Valley entering the fourth quarter, but the Warriors outscored the Cougars 18-9 in the final frame to send the game to overtime. Valley then outscored H-K by a 9-5 margin in the extra session to come away with a 60-56 victory.
Senior Jimmy McGoey scored 21 points for the Cougars in the contest. Sophomore Mason Gorham scored 18 points for H-K. Sophomore Tate Callender scored seven points, and senior Alec Erskine had five points.
Girls’ Basketball
The H-K girls’ basketball team lost a pair of road games last week and is now 0-4 on the season.
On Feb. 16, the Cougars took a 43-33 defeat at Valley Regional. Then on Feb. 20, H-K dropped a 37-22 decision in East Hampton.
Boys’ Ice Hockey
The Rocky Hill/Middletown/Plainville/Haddam-Killingworth co-op boys’ ice hockey team picked up its first win of the season last week.
On Feb. 15, the team claimed an 8-1 road win over Northeastern at the Bolton Ice Place. The very next day, the squad lost to the Newington co-op by a 4-2 score at the Champions Skating Center to move to 1-4 on the year.
Gymnastics
The Haddam-Killingworth/Morgan/Hale-Ray co-op gymnastics team competed against Valley Regional at Flip-Flop Gymnastics in its first three meets of the season. The squad claimed a 123.30-119.85 victory on Feb. 13, posted a 128.75-123.30 won on Feb. 15, and prevailed by a 124.80-118.50 score on Feb. 20 to start the year at 3-0.
