East Haven Boys’ Soccer Defeats Whitney Tech; Girls’ Soccer Plays Law to a Draw
Boys’ Soccer
The East Haven boys’ soccer team earned its second win of the year when the Yellowjackets defeated Whitney Tech by a 6-1 score last week. East Haven, which also took a 3-1 loss against Jonathan Law, now has a record of 2-4 on the season.
The Yellowjackets lost to Law by a 3-1 score in a road game on Oct. 20. Senior Luis Agudelo scored East Haven’s goal in the defeat.
Three days later, the Easties claimed a 6-1 victory versus Whitney Tech in another road game. The six goals scored marked East Haven’s biggest offensive performance in a game thus far this year.
Senior Leandro Soto-Molina scored two goals in the victory, while Agudelo, junior Anthony Sawicki, senior Junnyor Torres, and senior Kelvin Morocho had one goal apiece. Junior Brayan Crespo, senior Victor Calvillo, and sophomore Christofher Torres all contributed an assist for the Yellowjackets.
Girls’ Soccer
The Yellowjackets played two games last week and came away from the slate with a tie and a loss. East Haven played Jonathan Law to a draw before taking a defeat against Guilford in recent action.
On Oct. 20, East Haven hosted Law and battled the Eagles to a 2-2 stalemate. Junior Emily Pycela scored both of the Yellowjackets’ goals in the contest. The first goal game off of an assist from sophomore Gianna Mendez. Pycela was later credited for a goal after Law scored an own goal by inadvertently putting the ball into its net. Senior goalie Angelina Munoz made 10 saves for East Haven in the game.
Three days later, the Yellowjackets hosted Guilford and took a 1-0 loss at East Haven High School. Munoz stopped 15 shots in goal for East Haven.
