Branford U-19 Baseball Sweeps New Haven; U-17 Team Earns Win Over Wallingford
U-19 Baseball
The Branford U-19 baseball team wrapped up regular-season play in the Connecticut Elite Baseball Association (CEBA) by splitting its last four games of the slate. Branford dropped both ends of a doubleheader with Hamden before sweeping a two-game set against New Haven to finish with a record of 6-12 for the regular season.
On July 25, Branford hosted Hamden for a doubleheader and took defeats in both games. Hamden edged out Branford by a 6-5 score in the first game and then claimed an 11-5 win in the second game.
Branford returned to the ballfield for a home game with New Haven on July 28. Head Coach Kyle Heins’s squad came away with a 12-3 victory at Branford High School. The following day, Branford was on the road to face New Haven and prevailed by the final score of 13-5 to sweep the series and finish the regular season on a positive note.
U-17 Baseball
The Branford U-17 baseball squad lost four of its five matchups last week to move to 3-14 on the year in the CEBA. Branford was swept by Naugatuck in a three-game series, earned a win versus Wallingford, and then took a loss to Madison in its recent games.
Branford hit the road to play a doubleheader with Naugatuck on July 25. Naugatuck swept the doubleheader by posting a 6-0 win in the first game and then taking the second contest by an 11-7 score. The next day, Branford dropped a 6-0 decision against Naugatuck in the final game of the series.
Then on July 27, Head Coach Michael Krause’s club hosted Wallingford for a game at Branford High School. Branford defeated Wallingford by an 8-6 final to notch its third victory of the summer.
Three days later, Branford hosted Madison and took a 3-2 defeat in the game.
