Gould Breaks the Calvin Leete Record for the Mile
This October, Jackson Gould, a 4th-grade student at the Calvin Leete School in Guilford, ran the mile in a time of 5 minutes and 41 seconds while taking the Connecticut Physical Fitness Test, breaking the school’s record of 5:42 that had been set by Christopher Johnson 22 years ago. Gould received his trophy from physical education teacher Debra Golembieski, who also saw Johnson set the school record in the mile during her second year of teaching in 1997. Johnson was there with Gould with the trophy that he received when he broke the record. Gould recently finished in first place for the 12-and-under group at the Run for the Cove 5K in Madison, completing the course with a time of 22:27.
