Local Field Hockey Players Receive All-Shoreline Conference Honors
The Shoreline Conference recently honored some of the top high-school field hockey players in the area by presenting them with All-Shoreline Conference recognition based on their performances during the 2018 season. The athletes received their All-Conference accolades prior to the championship game of the Shoreline Conference Tournament at the Indian River Complex in Clinton on Nov. 1.
Westbrook midfielder Avery Bauman was selected as the Shoreline Conference Player of the Year and named to the All-Shoreline First Team with teammates Lexi Koplas (forward), Lauren Horne (goalkeeper), and Kendall Orlowski (defender). Midfielder Amy Raucci and forward Ava Galdenzi made the First Team on behalf of North Branford, which won the conference title by earning a 2-0 win versus Westbrook in the final. Valley Regional saw midfielder Annie Cooper and defender Elena Peterlik garner All-Shoreline First Team honors this year. Old Saybrook midfielder Mandy Beck made the First Team, as did defender Chelsea Piccirillo of Morgan.
There were also several athletes who solidified spots on the All-Shoreline Conference Second Team. Earning spots on the Second Team were Westbrook’s Alex Young (midfielder) and Carolyn Bauman (defender), Ali Barrett (forward) and Kelli Jacobson (defender) of North Branford, Valley Regional’s Olivia Kollmer (defender), Riley Millburne (forward), and Mia Cost (goalkeeper), Kayla Holt (forward) from Old Saybrook, Morgan’s Delaney Mastriano (midfielder), as well as Emma Conklin (midfielder) and Becca Conti (forward) of Haddam-Killingworth (midfielder).
