Old Saybrook Represented by Two Swimmers at Class S Championship
Two Old Saybrook athletes competed on behalf of the Rams at the at the Class S Boys’ Swimming State Championship that was held on March 14 at the Cornerstone Aquatics Center in West Hartford. Senior Will Brodeur and freshman Kyle Wisialowski both swam a pair of events and combined to score 65 points for Old Saybrook to put the Rams in 21st place.
Wisialowski posted an eighth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.49 to score 21 points at the Class S meet. The freshman also scored 16 points by claiming 11th place in the 100 butterfly at 57.34 seconds, while improving upon his time of 57.73 from the Class S Qualifying.
Brodeur swam to a 10th-place finish in 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.10, scoring 17 points for Old Saybrook at the State Championship. Brodeur’s time bettered his mark of 1:05.84 from the qualifying meet. In the 100 freestyle Brodeur scored 11 points by finishing in 16th place with a time of 53.23.
