Walsh Dance Wins High Kick Division for Fourth Time at Nationals
On Feb. 4, the Walsh Intermediate School dance team from Branford competed at the Universal Dance Association National Dance Team Championships at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The Walsh team made history by taking first place in the Middle School High Kick Division, resulting in the squad becoming four-time national champions for that category. Walsh’s hip-hop team recorded a third-place finish at the national meet. Walsh was the only school at nationals that had 5th-grade students competing.
Walsh’s head coach is Jaime Sebring, who is assisted by Jenna Juliano and Julia Goodwin. The athletes on the team are 8th-grade students Emma Angelo, Mallory Baughman, Giuliana Discher, Samantha Iagrossi, Isla Lionetti, Lucy Loftis, and Anna Perricone; 7th-gradrers Adrianna Barretta, Kylie Butler, Isabela Brancati, Ava DeMilo, Bella Kopczuk, Bryanna Lye, Adrianna Ramos, Jalessa Rivera, Dominique Smith, Taylor Tracy, and Jillian Vandale; 6th-grade students Sophia Berdon, Mia Borzillo, Fiona Brunson, Kaitlyn Butler, Caroline Chasse, Avery Clouse, and Sadie Zalewski; and 5th-graders Jessica Piazza, Meredith Rebmann, Skylar Dunn, and Isabela Iagrossi.
