Westbrook Boys’ Soccer Gets a Split; Field Hockey Earns a Win and a Tie
Boys’ Soccer
The Westbrook boys’ soccer team played two games last week and earned a victory to bring its record to 2-1 on the year.
On Sept. 11, the Knights visited East Hampton for a match and lost 1-0. Two days later, Westbrook hosted Old Lyme and won 2-1. The Knights received unassisted goals from senior captain Jack Hayes and freshman Noslin Antunez in this victory. Senior goalkeeper Jake Marciniec made eight saves for Westbrook on the day.
Girls’ Soccer
The Knights’ girls’ soccer squad had a couple of matches last week and took two defeats to stand at 1-2 thus far this season.
On Sept. 12, Westbrook traveled to East Hampton to battle the Bellringers and lost by a 3-0 margin. Three days later, the Knights came back home to face Old Lyme and took a 6-0 defeat.
Field Hockey
The Westbrook field hockey team was on the field for two contests last week and won one of them, while earning a tie in the other. The Knights’ record stands at 1-0-2 in the early going of the fall season.
On Sept. 11, Westbrook faced off against Shoreline Conference rival Old Saybrook on the road and triumphed by a 1-0 score. On Sept. 15, the Knights were at Valley Regional High School to play the Warriors, and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
