Police Incident Report for March 21 to 27
The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.
Deep River
Wednesday, March 21
No arrests were made.
• A 69 year-old Old Lyme woman was issued a verbal warning at 4:04 p.m. for failure to grant right of way at an intersection. She was operating a 2014 Nissan Sentra from 151 Main Street left onto Main Street near Village Street when her Nissan collided with a 1999 Kawasaki Vn1500-G motorcycle operated by a 56 year-old Clinton man. The motorcycle operator was transported to the Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Center in Westbrook for assessment and treatment.

Wednesday, March 21

• A motor vehicle crash was investigated on Goose Hill Road near Old Country Road at 9:15 p.m. An unknown driver lost control of his or her vehicle on a curve and struck a utility pole. The driver fled the scene and was wanted for evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident). Witnesses to the crash or anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Trooper Benjamin Borelli at Troop F at 860-399-2100. All calls will be kept confidential.

• A 38 year-old Haddam man was issued a citation at 7:44 a.m. for traveling too fast for conditions. He was operating a 1998 Subaru Forester when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail. No injuries were reported or observed.

• An 85 year-old man of a post office box address in Chester was issued a citation at 2:01 p.m. for failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway. He was operating a 2008 Jaguar when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a wire-rope guardrail.
Sunday, March 25
• A 27 year-old New Britain man was arrested at 11:34 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, drinking while driving, failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway, and operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license after he was stopped for driving erratically in Chester.
• A 27 year-old woman of Castle View Drive was arrested at 1:36 a.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree and assault in the second degree. Troopers responded to a fight at The Deck on Boston Post Road in Westbrook. The accused allegedly struck a 35 year-old woman of Old Clinton Road with a glass and caused a laceration on the alleged victim’s cheek. The victim was transported to the Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Clinic for treatment. The accused fled the scene and went to a friend’s home in New London. Troopers from Troop E located the accused and took her into custody and transferred her to Troop F in Westbrook for processing. She was processed and released on $5,000 non-surety bond pending an April 6 court date in Middletown Superior Court.

Saturday, March 24
• A 30 year-old Killingworth woman was arrested at 2:10 p.m. on a warrant charging her with larceny in the first degree. She was processed and released after posting a $10,000 surety bond and issued an April 5 court date.
