Pat was born in Detroit on April 23, 1932, the daughter of Stephen and Celine (Lauwers) Walker. After graduating from St. Ambrose High School in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Pat earned her nursing degree from St. Joseph’s in London, Ontario, and then enlisted in the Navy as a lieutenant at the Great Lakes Naval Station. She was later stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where she met her husband Bob, whom she liked to let people know she outranked. During the first years of their marriage, they lived in Yonkers, New York; Victor, New York; Detroit, and Blauvelt, New York, eventually settling in Riverside, where they raised their six children. Pat, Bob, and their dog, Riley, later moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where they lived for 28 years and retired. Only recently moving to Madison in November of 2022 to be closer to family.
Pat is predeceased by her twin sister Betty Raguso; and brothers, Ron and Ken Walker; as well as her son-in-law Patrick Kinney.
Along with juggling six kids, Pat was a nurse at Nyack Hospital and then Greenwich Hospital for many years. She was very active in her local churches, St. Catherine’s in Riverside and St. Patrick’s in Palm Beach Gardens. It was hard to ever catch her sitting down. She played golf and bridge, swam her daily laps in the pool, enjoyed spending time with friends at her book club and opera club, and volunteered at Café Joshua. Pat loved planning and hosting dinner parties and was proud to say that her house had a revolving door that continually welcomed friends and family.
Pat lived a full and beautiful life, leaving behind her legacy of family, friends, and wonderful memories. She will be incredibly missed.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at St. Margaret’s Church, 24 Academy St in Madison. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Kidney Fund at kidneyfund.org.
