Richard Apgar, 73, of Deep River passed away peacefully on April 29 after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in Middletown, son of the late Henry and Ruby (Caine) Apgar, lifelong residents of Deep River before retiring to Hobe Sound, Florida.
He is survived by his daughter Denise A. Doolittle and her husband Dwight of Deep River; his son James R. Apgar and his partner Alexandra Hatch of East Haddam; his grandchildren Mollie C. and Kaitlin E. Apgar, both of East Haddam; and his lifelong partner and best friend Teresa A. LaMark of Deep River. Richard was blessed to have a large extended family and many close friends.
The Apgar family would like to thank the staff at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain for the compassionate and extraordinary care they provided during Richard’s illness.
Visitation was held on May 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church in Chester on May 4 at 11 a.m. Interment at Fountain Hill Cemetery was private.
