Clare Goss Randall
Clare Hungerford Goss Randall, 92, a longtime resident of Madison and Longboat Key, Florida, passed away on Feb. 1. She was born Nov. 14, 1922, to Charles Stuart Hungerford and Gertrude Foster Hungerford.
She spent her childhood in Watertown. She attended the Westover School and studied at the Yale University School of Art. Family was central to her life, and she was a devoted mother who volunteered her time in health care and education. She was also a passionate gardener who became a master gardener and a member of the Madison Garden Club. Other organizations she was an active member of include the Madison Beach Club, the Winter Club, and the Sarasota Yacht Club.
She was predeceased by her husbands Edward Boggs Goss and Judge William I. Randall; by her brother Charles Stuart Hungerford, Jr.; and her son Edward Hungerford Goss. She is survived by her son Stuart Tysen Goss; her stepchildren William Randall, Jonathan Randall, and Eleanor Randall Epstein; her grandchildren Edward Platt Goss and Farleigh Cooper Goss Barnhart; and her great-grandchildren Lucy and Lola Clare Barnhart.
Visitation will be held at the Guilford Funeral Home on Feb. 8 from 3 to 6 p.m. Services will be held at the Guilford Funeral Home on Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. Burial will take place privately.
