Elizabeth Maria “Liesa” Kasimir, 80, Centerbrook
Elizabeth Maria “Liesa” Kasimir, 80, of Centerbrook, died May 11 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Liesa was the beloved wife of the late Jacob Kasimir, who predeceased her on March 11, 2009. Liesa was born in Charleville, Yugoslavia, on March 18, 1932, daughter of Josef and Anna (Maier) Grossmann. In 1952, she and Jacob immigrated to the United States from Germany. Liesa had been a resident of Centerbrook since 1964 and was well known and liked by many in the community. She will truly be missed.
Liesa loved to cook and especially bake. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Essex.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph P. Kasimir of Centerbrook and Nicholas J. Kasimir of Westbrook; her grandchildren, Amanda Nicole Kasimir of Madison, Erica Kasimir of Chester, Jakob Kasimir of Chester, and Gage Kasimir of Westbrook.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 17, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect St., Essex. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Visiting Nurses of the Lower Valley, Inc., 61 Main St., Suite 5, Centerbrook, CT 06409.
