Remo Florio, 91, Madison
Remo Florio, 91, died on Aug. 17 in Middletown. He was the husband of 57 years to the late Mildred Certo Florio. Mr. Florio was born on Aug. 21, 1919 in the Bronx, New York, where he was also raised. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and had been employed by AT&T for 36 years in both New York and Connecticut until his retirement. Mr. Florio was a long time resident of Madison and a member of the North Madison Fire Department. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his daughters, Marie Stephens, Joanne Florio, Lisa Gorman, and Carolyn Varone, as well as six grandchildren, Rebecca and Joseph Stanis, Benjamin Stopka, Chloe Gorman, and Jack and William Varone.
Family and friends may call at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison, on Sunday Aug. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Church, Academy St., Madison. Burial with full military honors will follow in the State of Connecticut Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown.
