Thereon Ramsdell (Buster), 76, passed away peacefully on April 17 at home with family. Born in Bar Harbor, Maine, June 28, 1941, to Thereon and Pauline Ramsdell, he lived most of his life in Westbrook.
His true passion in life was always family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Maureen. He is also survived by his children Tracy (Ramsdell) Purdue and her husband Kenneth Purdue of Wentworth, New Hampshire; Robert Ramsdell and his wife Nancy Ramsdell of Clinton; Matthew Ramsdell of Westbrook; and Victoria Muggleston and her husband Robert Muggleston of Deep River. One of the biggest joys in his life was being a grandfather to his eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Worrell and her husband Bill of Southington, and his brother Philip Ramsdell of Massachussetts.
Buster enjoyed his work as cook and food-service supervisor at the Old Saybrook Convalescent Hospital, where he worked for 30 years. He loved camping with his children and spending time working in the yard at home. He was a member and officer of the Lions Club of Westbrook, and took pleasure in coordinating the annual Potato Festival.
Calling hours are April 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home in Old Saybrook. A brief memorial service will begin at 5:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
