North Branford Cooling Stations Open in Advance of Significant Heat Wave

The State of Connecticut is activating its Extreme Hot Weather Protocol today from 8 a.m. today, Wednesday, July 26, until Sunday, July 30, 8 a.m. Severe heat and humidity are predicted over the next couple of days, with temperatures in the 90’s sustained over the next several days.
In consideration of the activation of the protocol and to ensure vulnerable residents have protection available, the Town of North Branford will be opening cooling stations for any residents in need at the following locations:
North Branford Town Hall – 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 909 Foxon Road, North Branford
Atwater Memorial Library – 24 hours, 1720 Foxon Road, North Branford
Edward Smith Library – 24 hours, 3 Old Post Road, Northford
The main entrances at both library locations will remain open after 8 p.m. Those needing cooling shelter will be able to access the main entrances, community rooms, and bathrooms at any point during the period. The Town Hall will be open for shelter only between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
