Branford Fire Dept. Swears In 4 Officers, 1 Firefighter
Branford Fire Department (BFD) has shared photos and congratulations at its official Facebook page following a special ceremony held in the Day Room of Branford Fire Headquarters Tuesday, June 29, when four officers and one firefighter were sworn in.
The officers sworn in are Assistant Chief Gary Bloomquist, Deputy Chief of Safety and Administration John Cudgma, Fire Marshal Robert Dobuzinsky and Deputy Fire Marshal Amanda Mark. The officers oath was administered by Cudgma's father, retired (2018) Firefighter Paramedic John Cudgma Sr.
In addition, Board of Fire Commission chairman Robert Massey swore in Firefighter Ian Canny, who's public ceremony was "long delayed by COVID," according to the post.
The Board of Fire Commissioners selected Assistant Chief Bloomquist for the role following an application and interview process completed in February. At a special meeting June 15, the commission unanimously approved appointing Cudgma, Dobuzinsky and Mark to their new officers' positions. The Fire Marshal, Deputy Fire Marshal and Deputy Chief of Administration and Safety positions were posted in April with written exams held May 25 and May 26.
Additional photos from the June 29 event are posted at the BFD Facebook page (@BFDCT).
