Please Support Your Community News Site's COVID Coverage

The coronavirus crisis has nearly halted the local economy — including media advertising. That means local, independent news organizations such as ours must fight for our own survival while continuing to provide critical news and information as a public service during this unprecedented situation. Snug margins in several district races to seat the town's 30 members of the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) have created the need for recounts in some districts.

On Friday, Nov. 8, Branford Town Clerk Lisa Arpin said recounts will take place in the 4th and 5th district RTM races. As of press time for this story, the time and date for the recount had not been set but will be likely be held on Monday, Nov. 11.

Arpin said recounts in RTM races in the 3rd, 6th and 7th districts have been declined by the losing candidate who received the highest vote count.
