Press release from Project Service LLC
The newly renovated I-95 Madison Southbound Service Plaza will open on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. This plaza is the 23rd of 23 Connecticut highway service plazas to be completely renovated and completes Project Service LLC’s total obligation to redevelop the 23 Connecticut service plazas. The Madison Southbound Plaza includes Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonald’s, an Alltown Convenience Store, and an ExxonMobil gas station.
Madison Southbound, as well as all the other plazas that have been renovated, has a series of “green” features. The service plaza will qualify to operate to Silver LEED standards. The Madison facility will use photovoltaic solar panels, which decreases its dependence on traditional power sources. Each service plaza also has facilities for single-stream recycling and idle-reduction technology for tractor-trailers. Other environmentally conscious features include water-efficient rest rooms, energy-efficient insulation and lighting, and state-of-the-art and super-efficient heating and air conditioning units.
“Our Connecticut Services Plazas team is excited to provide great food choices, clean restrooms, fuel and convenience to the large number of travelers who pass through the Madison area,” said Paul Landino, president and CEO of Project Service. “We are proud to announce that we have now completed all 23 Connecticut service plazas locations and look forward to continuing to serve those traveling on Connecticut’s highways as we work to renovate the remaining service plazas in the state.”
Project Service LLC has a 35-year contract with the state to renovate and operate the service plazas. All 23 service plazas are open 24 hours a day. Each service plaza offers different food options; some of these options include Subway, McDonalds, and Dunkin’ Donuts. Each service plaza also features an Alltown Convenience Store and an ExxonMobil gas station. The plazas have clean restrooms, free WiFi and backup power generators for use during power outages.
