The Harbor News publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Clinton, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Clinton

Friday, May 25

• A 27 year-old Higganum woman was arrested at 7:38 a.m. and charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief in the second degree, forgery in the second degree, and larceny in the sixth degree.

• A larceny was investigated at 266 East Main Street at 8:20 a.m. A tablet computer was stolen while the complainant was working inside ShopRite.

• Threatening was investigated on Wildwood Park Road at 4:12 p.m.

Saturday, May 26

• An 18 year-old man of Old Nod Road was arrested at 12:34 a.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the second degree and possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis.

• A 37 year-old Cheshire man was arrested at 9:10 p.m. and charged with harassment in the second degree and violation of a protective order.

• The theft of a motor vehicle was investigated at 68 Groveway at 8:31 a.m. The complainant reported that her husband’s business truck was stolen during the overnight hours. The vehicle was located in New Haven via OnStar. New Haven police were notified.

• Harassment was investigated on the 200 block of East Main Street at 7:26 p.m.

Sunday, May 27

No arrests were made.

• A 43 year-old man of Old Mill Road was issued a misdemeanor summons at 5:20 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

• Suspicious activity was reported at 15 Alden Drive at 3:05 a.m. The complainant reported that someone knocked on his door. When he opened the door, he saw two white teenage males dumping trash on his lawn in the street. The boys were last seen riding bikes toward Jefferson Drive. Police checked the area, but could not find the suspects.

Monday, May 28

No arrests were made.

• A shoplifting incident was investigated at 20 Killingworth Turnpike at 2:57 p.m. A pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses valued at $213 were stolen by a white male wearing salmon-colored shorts, a navy blue or black T-shirt, a brick-red hat, and possibly carrying a brown polo bag. He was with a white female who was wearing shorts and a long-sleeved shirt, and wore her hair in a bun.

• A larceny was investigated at 233 East Main Street at 6:53 p.m. A Guilford resident who was a patron of a Taste of China believed that his wallet was stolen while he was at the restaurant.

• A burglary was investigated at 20 Killingworth Turnpike at 7:34 p.m. A laptop computer and battery pack were stolen from the complainant’s vehicle. The suspect was a white male with a thick beard and wearing dark sunglasses. He was accompanied by a young girl who was wearing sandals. The pair left in a blue/gray 2000’s model Honda Accord.

Tuesday, May 29

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 12 Nod Place at 8 a.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 7 Walnut Hill Road at 1:52 p.m.

• A shoplifting incident was investigated at 20 Killingworth Turnpike at 3:40 p.m. A Hispanic female with brown/red hair and wearing a white and blue polo dress reportedly stole a pink shirt and blue jeans using a possible shielded shoplifter’s “beater” bag. She drove off in a red Honda Civic.

Wednesday, May 30

No arrests were made.

• A trespass complaint was investigated on Cream Pot Road at 10:35 a.m. The complainant reported that someone was parking a camper on his property and possibly staying overnight. He did not want anyone on his property. Police spoke with the trespasser and advised him that this was not the first trespass complaint police have received about his parking his camper on property that does not belong to him. Police advised the man of the public parking areas in town and the hours of operation. The man stated that he understood, and he said he would be leaving the state soon.

Thursday, May 31

No arrests were made.

• A brush fire was reported on Elmwood Way at 2:22 p.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 20 Killingworth Turnpike at 8:19 p.m. A black male wearing a hat and jeans took more than $3,000 worth of merchandise. He was accompanied by two females. The trio left the area in a Black Honda. Witness did not record the license plate number.

Friday, June 1

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about fraud was investigated at Liberty Bank, 170 East Main Street, 11 a.m.

• A complaint about Quads on land trust property on investigated on Cream Pot Road at 11:14 a.m.

• A larceny was investigated at 33 Nod Road at 1:27 p.m. Two “Vote No” signs were taken from the complainant’s property.

• A larceny was investigated at 15 Christina Court at 9:34 p.m. A wallet was stolen by a male at PF Chang’s restaurant located at the West Farms Mall. Multiple credit cards were taken from the wallet and used to purchase $4,032.01 in gift chards at Target Stores in Southington and Waterbury.

Saturday, June 2

• A 45 year-old man of Cow Hill Road was arrested at 7:38 p.m. and charged with violation of probation.

• A fraud complaint was investigated at 215 East Main Street at 10:34 a.m.

Sunday, June 3

No arrests were made.

• A dispute was investigated on Marine Avenue at 5 p.m. A verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation. Both parties were intoxicated and neither wanted to press charges against the other. The two were not in a domestic relationship together.

Monday, June 4

No arrests were made.

• A shoplifting incident was investigated at 20 Killingworth Turnpike at 4:10 p.m. A young Hispanic male with light skin and wearing a dark colored GAP hoodie, orange sneakers, a gray or white hat, and light colored shorts stole a wallet of unknown value from the Calvin Klein store.

Tuesday, June 5

No arrests were made.

• A report of a prowler was investigated at 9 Sols Point Road at 12:03 a.m. The incident was unfounded.

• A larceny was investigated at 35 Maplewood Drive at 4:04 p.m. The case was redirected to police in New York City since the theft occurred there two weeks prior when the complainant’s vehicle was broken into.

Friday, May 25

No arrests were made.

Saturday, May 26

• A 22 year-old Norwich man was arrested at 9:53 a.m. and charged with evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident), operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, and failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart following a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Boston Post Road at South Main Street.

• A 27 year-old Franklin man was arrested at 3:05 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree and assault in the third degree.

• A 19 year-old New Haven man and a 16 year-old New Haven boy were arrested at 3:49 a.m. Each party was charged with reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, and failure to obey a traffic control signal following a police chase and two-vehicle crash on a dead end road. The charged drivers crashed into each other after one made a U-turn on the dead end road.

Sunday, May 27

• A 56 year-old Waterford woman was arrested at 2:55 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway after she was stopped to driving erratically.

• A 53 year-old Durham man was arrested at 8:41 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, disobeying the signal of an officer, failure to drive upon the right, and failure to obey a stop sign. He was stopped for violating a stop sign. The trooper suspected that the driver was intoxicated. The driver agreed to and failed a standardized field sobriety test.

• The passing of counterfeit bills was investigated at Lenny and Joe’s Fishtail located at 85 Boston Post Road. Two counterfeit $100 bills were discovered during the clear-out and deposit at the end of the night. The night manager noticed two $100 bills with pink Chinese writing on them and both bills had the same serial number. The restaurant staff was notified of the counterfeit money being used at the restaurant.

Monday, May 28

• A 36 year-old man of Wangum Road was arrested at 9:30 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and threatening in the second degree. He became verbally aggressive and abusive against the complainant and threaten to bodily harm the complainant.

Tuesday, May 29

• A 48 year-old Middletown woman was arrested at 8:17 p.m. and charged with violation of probation. She was suspected of stealing items out of a clothing donation box. Police determined that she was donating clothes, but a background check noted a warrant for violating her probation. She was processed on a $50,000 surety bond.

Wednesday, May 30

• A 34 year-old Bridgeport man was arrested at 1:50 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, failure to drive right, failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway, and improper license classification for vehicle driven.

• A 31 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 6:56 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart, and operating a motor vehicle at too slow a speed.

• A 22 year-old Old Saybrook man was issued a misdemeanor summons at 1:42 a.m. for reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension.

Thursday, May 31

No arrests were made.

• A 20 year-old Essex man was issued a citation at 7:39 p.m. for failure to drive right. He was operating a 2006 Ford F550 Super Duty truck when northbound on Pond Meadow Road in Westbrook when he attempted to make a left turn onto Cross Road and struck a 2009 Hyundai Elantra operated by a 63 year-old Ivoryton man. No injuries were reported or observed.

Friday, June 1

• A 23 year-old New Haven man was arrested and charged with larceny in the third degree, engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, and failure to obey a traffic control signal following a motor vehicle crash in which the accused evaded (fled) the scene. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

Saturday, June 2

• A 20 year-old Prospect woman was arrested at 9:11 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to drive right, and failure to display tail lights following a motor vehicle stop after leaving the parking lot of a bar without tail lights illuminated. The accused agreed to and failed a standardized field sobriety test.

Sunday, June 3

• A 25 year-old New Britain man was arrested at 2:28 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving, engaging an officer in pursuit, reckless endangerment in the first degree, failure to signal a turn, and failure to obey a stop sign. He was processed on a $5,000 surety bond.

Monday, June 4

• A 19 year-old Lyme man was arrested at 12:07 a.m. and charged with possession of cannabis, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and simple trespass. In the same incident a 17 year-old male and a 17 year-old female were each issued a citation for simple trespass.

• A 37 year-old Essex woman was arrested at 2:21 a.m. and charged with assault on a public safety officer. She was processed on a $5,000 surety bond.

• An 81 year-old woman of Old Horse Hill Road was issued a citation at 12:51 p.m. for making an improper right turn. She was operating a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SE northbound on Route 145 when she made a wide right unto onto Cross Road and struck the front end of a 2010 Hyundai Sonata Se Limited operated by a 45 year-old Ivoryton woman. No injuries were reported or observed, but the cited driver was transported from the scene by American Ambulance to the Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Center due to complaints of nausea.

Tuesday, June 5

No arrests were made.

• A 48 year-old Chester man was issued a citation at 4:55 p.m. for failure to drive right. He was operating a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox on Seaside Lane near Route 156 when he struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported or observed.

Old Saybrook

Friday, May 25

• A 55 year-old Deep River woman was arrested at 8:17 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.

• A 42 year-old Meriden man was arrested at 8:28 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license, possession of a controlled substance, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of cannabis.

• A 38 year-old Westbrook man was arrested at 9:55 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, engaging an officer in pursuit, interfering with an officer, evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident), failure to have motor vehicle lights illuminated, and violation of golf cart regulations. He was processed and held on a $10,000 surety bond he could not post. In the same incident a 48 year-old Torrington man was charged with interfering with an officer.

• A 22 year-old Moosup woman was issued a misdemeanor summons at 1:17 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and failure to have two headlights following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road at Orchard Street.

• A 59 year-old Norwich woman was issued a misdemeanor summons at 11:09 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle without insurance and operating an unregistered motor vehicle following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road at Springbrook Road.

• A 20 year-old man of Providence, Rhode Island, an 18 year-old woman of Cranston, Rhode Island, and a 19 year-old woman of Providence, Rhode Island were each issued a citation around 9 a.m. for possession of less than one-half ounce of cannabis.

Saturday, May 26

• A 78 year-old man of Sea Lane was arrested at 1:08 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Sunday, May 27

• A 50 year-old Norwich woman was arrested at 6:18 p.m. and charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, having a weapon in a motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension.

Monday, May 28

• A 42 year-old Cromwell man was arrested at 12:37 a.m. and charged with violation of a protective order. He was processed and released after posting a $30,000 surety bond.

Tuesday, May 29

• A 14 year-old was arrested at 1:22 p.m. and charged with threatening in the second degree and breach of peace in the second degree.

• A 66 year-old woman of Marian Point Drive was arrested at 7 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree and disorderly conduct under the domestic violence act.

Wednesday, May 30

• A 29 year-old man of Ayers Point Road was arrested at 2:14 p.m. and charged with assault in the third degree and breach of peace in the second degree.

• A 25 year-old Deep River man was arrested at 9:16 p.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the second degree.

Thursday, May 31

No arrests were made.

Friday, June 1

• A 33 year-old woman of Springfield, Massachusetts was arrested at 4:22 p.m. and charged with two counts of larceny in the sixth degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree. She was processed and held on a $20,000 surety bond that she could not post.

• A 26 year-old woman of Old Boston Post Road was issued a misdemeanor summons at 12:21 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle while under license or registration suspension following a motor vehicle stop on Lynde Street at Ledge Road.

• A 36 year-old New London woman was issued a misdemeanor summons at 3:32 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without a permit in possession and operating an unregistered motor vehicle following a motor vehicle stop on Middlesex Turnpike near Custom Drive.

Saturday, June 2

• A 62 year-old man of unrecorded address was arrested at 11:23 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of marker plates, and failure to maintain two headlamps.

• An 85 year-old man of North Main Street was issued a misdemeanor summons at 10:07 a.m. for evading responsibility in the operation of a motor vehicle (fleeing the scene of an accident) following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Post Road.

• A 45 year-old woman of Lynde Street was issued a citation at 11:38 a.m. for failure to vaccinate a domestic animal.

Sunday, June 3

• A 38 year-old Groton man was arrested at 8:15 a.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the second degree.

• A 20 year-old Lyme man was arrested at 1:25 p.m. on warrants charging him with six counts of failure to appear in the first degree and 12 counts of failure to appear in the second degree. He was processed and held on a combined $270,000 surety bond.

Monday, June 4

• A 39 year-old homeless woman was arrested at 10:27 a.m. and charged with criminal trespass in the first degree.

Tuesday, June 5

• A 47 year-old Higganum man was arrested at 7:15 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and breach of peace in the second degree.

• A 21 year-old Clinton man was arrested at 10:10 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree and threatening in the second degree.
