Falls River Hits Highs After Ida
As the remnants of Hurricane Ida passed over Chester, Deep River, and Essex in the early morning hours on Sept. 2, historic rainfalls left towns with significant flooding in some areas and several residents without power.
In Chester, there was 6.46 inches of rain as of 6:37 a.m. on Sept. 2, according to the National Weather Service. In Essex village, there was 6.53 inches of rain as of 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 2, according to the national Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network.
For power outages, there were 54 residents impacted in Chester, fewer than 4 residents affected in Deep River, and 94 residents in Essex, as of 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 2 according to Eversource.
