Music Under the Stars Returns through Aug. 28
It’s time dust off the lawn chairs, pack a picnic, and gather with family, friends, and neighbors for North Haven’s beloved summer concert series Music Under the Stars, which is back on the North Haven Green on Tuesday nights through Aug. 28.
The event kicks off June 5 with the Vinnie Carr from 6 to 7:15 p.m. followed by North Haven’s own Rich DiPalma singing Italian songs from yesteryear from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
The series has been organized by the North Haven Department of Community Services and Recreation for three decades. In recent years, support from the North Haven business community has allowed the program to expand to 13 concerts.
The concert series also provides North Haven residents a chance to give back; the Recreation Department has a bin for donations for the food bank each week.
The remainder of the free concerts will begin at 7 p.m. on the Town Green. Parking is available at the Town Hall Annex and Town Pool lots.
If weather cancels, the concerts will move to North Haven High School, 221 Elm Street. Seating is limited at the high school and food and beverages are prohibited in the school.
If the weather is questionable, attendees should call the Recreation Center info-line at 203-234-2535 after 5 p.m.; the Special Events recording will state if the concert has been moved to the high school.
Given good weather, however, the concerts will take place in the bandstand, with plenty of room for dancing, and food trucks will ring the green for those who haven’t packed a meal.
