East Haven Wants Your Snow Removal Help
While it has taken what seems like forever for winter to finally arrive in East Haven, the cold weather—and even a little snow—has finally arrived.
And with that wintry weather, town officials are asking residents to help them with the snow removal process by adhering to the established guidelines.
At the start of a snow event, when snow begins to fall, officials said a parking ban will be in effect, meaning: All vehicles shall be required to be moved to off-street facilities (driveways, etc.) where such off-street facilities are available. Otherwise, vehicles can park only on the event numbered sides of streets, unless otherwise posted.
The parking remains in effect until 36 hours after snow has ended.
During especially large and/or dangerous events, the mayor may declare a snow emergency, which can extend the 36-hour parking ban period. The mayor or police chief can order the removal of all vehicles from any or all streets within the town to permit snow removal to allow Public Services Department to properly and efficiently clear each street.
All residents and businesses must also clear sidewalks of snow within 24 hours following the end of any storm.
