NB Readies for Back to School
North Branford Public Schools (NBPS) will start the school year with a full day on Thurs. Aug 27, the first day for all students.
Students in grades three, four and five attend Totoket Valley Elementary School (TVES) in Northford and, on Aug. 27, they'll find work continuing on the building's roof replacement project, which began during the summer break. The work's entering its final stages (panel placement) and is not expected to disrupt classes. As previously reported at Zip06, in May, the Town Council supported the recommendation of the Board of Education (BOE), voting to approve the much-needed TVES roof replacement, a $2,481,000 project. All students in North Branford's public schools will have a day off on Mon. Sept. 7 for Labor Day; but the next day off doesn't arrive until Oct. 12 (Columbus Day). In November, there will be no school for NBPS students on Monday, Nov. 2 and no school on Tues. Nov. 3, which are professional development days.
North Branford public school students are transported by Dattco Bus Company. Families of students receive school bus assignments in the mail, sent out by the BOE. Schedules have not yet been mailed but are anticipated to be sent out during the week of Aug. 17.
North Branford's last day of school has been set for June 8, 2016. If needed, make-up "snow days" will be added in June, beginning with June 9.
