95-year-old Resident Victim of Identity Theft
A 95-year-old North Haven woman was the victim of identity theft.
In 2014, a collection company contacted the victim informing her that a credit card account in her name was delinquent. North Haven investigators determined Thomas Anastasio, who resides in New Haven, had opened nine credit accounts in the victim’s name.
At the time of this investigation, the total balance owed on all of the accounts totaled over $20,000. Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Anastasio who was taken into custody on January 31, 2015. He was charged with Larceny First Degree, and Identity Theft First Degree. Anastasio will answer to said charges in Meriden Superior Court on Feb. 19.
