Crazy Stunts, Fabulous Dunks at BHS Feb. 22
Crazy stunts and fabulous dunks come to Branford when the Harlem Wizards take on the Branford Dunkers Feb. 22 at the Branford High School gym.
Tickets are on sale now for this community show-stopper of a game, organized and hosted by Walsh Intermediate School (WIS) PTA as a fundraiser. Branford district principals, teachers and even Superintendent of Schools Hamlet Hernandez will suit up as the “Branford Dunkers” to take on the famed Harlem Wizards, an institution in trick roundball.
“Even though this event is sponsored by our PTA, we envision it as a community event that the entire town can enjoy, “ said WIS PTA president Michael Oberempt.
The latest edition of the Wizards team is in the midst of a 2014 “Slamtastic Tour,” displaying the wizardry, trick hoops and three-man alley oops that have been stunning fans since 1962. It’s always a night of amazing talent combined with on-the-court (and sometimes in-the-crowd) comedy and spontaneous, feel-good humor that’s perfect for fans of all ages. The Wizards also put on a tremendous interactive halftime show and are known to stick around postgame until every last autograph has been signed.
Game day is Sat. Feb. 22, 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 5:45 p.m.) at BHS, 185 East Main St. Advance tickets, $10 students, $12 general admission. Day-of (at the door) tickets $12 students, $14 general admission. A limited number of $25 courtside seats (includes pre-game meet and greet with two Wizard members and a free player photo) are available.
