GHS Students CARE About Elderly
Guilford High School’s Care and Respecting the Elderly (CARE) Club brightened the lives of elderly clients at Apple Rehab of Guilford during a recent holiday visit.
The visit brought about 20 CARE members, dressed in their finest Christmas attire, for an afternoon visit which also included some intergenerational arts and crafts, from painting nails to decorating paper snowflakes.
As described by GHS CARE President Sophie Kaplan, the goal was to have each CARE member “…create a special connection with the resident they visited and bring the Christmas spirit to people who need it; because, don’t we all?”
Previously in the year, CARE members visited Apple Rehab for a competitive game of Bingo and Thanksgiving crafts; visited and played music for residents at The Guilford House; and wrote birthday cards for residents. CARE members continue to plan events at both Apple Rehab and The Guilford House, two geriatric rehabilitation facilities and nursing homes in the area.
