Guilford Pedestrian, 18, Struck and Killed on Rte. 1
Guilford Police continue to investigate a fatal pedestrian accident that took the life of a 18 year-old Guilford man in the early morning hours of July 28.
According to the police, Jonathan B. McMahon of Edgewood Drive, son of William V. and Lisa Natarelli McMahon of Guilford, was killed while walking along the Boston Post Road at approximately 4 a.m. McMahon's body was found in the eastbound travel lane on Boston Post Road near the intersection of Flagmarsh Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. Prior to officers' arrival, the department received two 911 calls about a man lying in the road.
Police have impounded a boat trailer and an SUV that a preliminary investigation indicated may have struck McMahon. Police said the driver of the SUV and his passenger are cooperating with investigators. The driver voluntarily submitted to an DUI breath test as part of the investigation.
Jonathan McMahon had graduated on June 15 from Guilford High School. According to his family, he had a passion for music, going fishing, and bowling.
He is survived by two siblings, Shauna and Billy McMahon, his maternal grandparents Joseph and Rosemarie Natarelli of Madison, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his girlfriend Mikelle Peterson of Madison. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Francis and Patricia McMahon.
Friends may call at the Porto Funeral Home, 234 Foxon Road (Rte. 80) in East Haven on Wednesday, Aug. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. and are asked to go directly to St. George's Church in Guilford Thursday morning, Aug. 2, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
