Post Office to Stay Open but Residents Still Have Questions
Managers from the U.S. Postal Service told residents at a public meeting last week that the North Haven Post Office wouldn’t close.
But most of the residents who filled the gymnasium at the Mildred Wakeley Recreation Center expressed their concern that those plans could change at any time.
Jodi Heslin, manager of post office operations for the 064 Connecticut Valley district, told residents at the beginning of the meeting that the town, currently without a postmaster, would not get another one.
She added that the carriers and retail operations would remain in town, and that North Haven would still maintain its ZIP code.
Heslin added that the New Haven postmaster would preside over North Haven operations.
First Selectman Michael Freda asked Heslin to confirm there would be no changes in the service North Haven residents would see. She would only say that the change is “administrative,” referring to the absence of a postmaster in town.
