Spader Hopes to Bring New Voice to Town Government
As an attorney, it’s Walt Spader’s job to help his clients. His “client” list will grow considerably to include all residents of North Haven if the Democrat wins the first selectman race in November.
Spader is challenging incumbent Republican Michael Freda.
“I have been involved in community events and I want to continue the involvement,” said Spader regarding his reasons for running for the first selectman seat.
Spader is currently vice chairman of the Democratic Town Committee, which unanimously endorsed him as its first selectman candidate. He is an attorney at The Marcus Law Firm in North Branford.
Spader received his bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University and his law degree from the Quinnipiac University School of Law. He is a member of the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce.
Spader said his decision to run for office “was the right thing for the Democratic party. They need a voice,” he said.
“You can get a lot of things done through cooperation,” said Spader, who noted that town officials need to work with government officials in Hartford on issues such as education funding.
