Local and State Police Investigate Madison Webster Bank Robbery
On Oct. 1, a late-morning robbery at the Madison branch of Webster Bank closed the business for the day as investigators from the Madison Police Department were joined by the Connecticut Central District Major Crime Squad at the 28 Durham Road location.
Sgt. Neal Mulhern of the Madison Police Department Detective Bureau reported that just before 11 a.m., a white male with short blond hair, a thin build, approximately 6' to 6'4" and wearing blue jeans; black shoes; a dark-colored, long-sleeve shirt; a navy blue baseball cap with a New York logo (possibly Giants); and a mask covering his face up to his nose entered the bank and demanded tellers open the drawers. The robber then jumped the counter, took money out of the drawers, and fled on foot to Route 79/Durham Road; witnesses could not determine what direction he headed.
Madison Public Schools has notified parents that the police department assured school officials that there was no need for any schools to go into lockdown or any cause for concern.
Police still looking for the suspect; anyone with information should call the Madison Police Department at 203-245-2721.
