How to Look at Our Mind
Khentrul Lodro Thaye Rinpoche, a Tibetan Buddhist teacher, will visit East Creek Landing (former Knights of Columbus), 390 South Union Street, Guilford, on Saturday, Sept. 30, and Sunday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. both days. He will be visiting with his translator, Paloma Landry.
The topic of the talk is: “A Buddhist Teaching, Pith Instructions on How to Look at Our Mind.” More than 2,000 years ago, the Buddha Shakyamuni answered a series of questions from one of his students and thus gave this teaching on wisdom. It became a highly revered scripture called “The Sutra on the Wisdom of the Hour of Death.” Although it consists of only three pages, it focuses on wisdom aimed at liberating disturbing emotions and finding freedom from suffering and for realizing the clear luminous nature of mind—in its ultimate natural state, along with its positive qualities.
Rinpoche came to the United States in 2002 and has taught in Connecticut since 2004. His book, Power of Mind, published in 2022, has sold out 5,000 copies and is in its second printing. This is his first visit to Guilford after a three-year break due to the pandemic.
There is a suggested donation on a sliding scale of $150 to $200, but organizers say no one will be turned away for lack of funds. For more information and to register, visit katogvajraling.org or contact Kathleen at info@katogvajraling.org or 203-641-3563.
