Organ Recitals Offered Live and Online
The First Congregational Church (FCC) in Madison, on the Green, 26 Meeting House Lane, will again host the popular Friday lunchtime organ recital series in October, which will allow people the chance to get outdoors, listen to some spiritual music, and hear the church’s magnificent, newly restored M.P. Moller pipe organ.
FCC Director of Music Ministry Nathan Bayreuther will again play a half-hour organ recital on Fridays, Oct. 9, 16, 23, and 30 from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.
Listeners can come to the Church Green, which is large enough to enjoy the music while social distancing, and listen to the organ broadcast through the steeple speakers. The repertoire will include variations on favorite hymns, large organ works, and spookier music as we get closer to Halloween.
Listeners can also join the recital live on the church’s Facebook page at First Congregational Church of Madison, CT.
“There is no doubt that this has been a challenging year for everyone on many fronts,” said Reverend Sara Vetter. “This recital series is a great opportunity to take a break from all that is going on and spend a half-hour each Friday listening to Nathan and the majestic sound of the legendary pipe organ fill the air.”
Along with this type of community outreach, FCC and its members take on numerous environmental and social-minded projects, such as hosting forums on Plastics & the Environment and Racial Justice as well as projects to help Refugees and conduct Beach Clean-ups. FCC recently celebrated the 18th anniversary of becoming an open and affirming community.
