It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play Offered by Legacy Theatre
It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play adapted by Joe Landry and directed by Tanya Feduik Smith will be offered by the Legacy Theatre Company at The Stony Creek Museum, 84 Thimble Islands Road, Stony Creek, Branford on Friday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 15 at 2 and 7:30 p.m..
Vagabond Theatre Company is teaming up with Legacy Theatre after its successful run at the Bijou Theater in Bridgeport to bring the shoreline the timeless holiday classic It’s A Wonderful Life. This performance adapted by Landry is in a radio play format, a style linked to the iconic Orson Welles, who played in the Stony Creek Theater in days of yore.
Adapted from the classic American film, this unique take on the beloved story of George Bailey and the granting of his bleak and desperate Christmas wish by his guardian angel shifts the action from the silver screen to the WBFR radio studios on Christmas Eve 1946. Here a handful of actors are at their mics, broadcasting in front of a studio audience, performing dozens of characters, accompanied on stage by a live sound effects artist.
There will be a special talk back after Saturday matinée with Landry. Tickets to all performances are $15 each.
Seating is limited. Reservations can be made at www.legacytheatrect.org.
