Three Book Sales
The Friends of Scranton Library (SLF) held its first book sale in 1991. Since then, the book sale has become a major fundraiser. We depend on it to meet our $40,000 pledge to the library. This year, we will hold three book sales, May 16 to 18, July 18 to 20, and Sept. 19 to 21.
First, we need books! We would be grateful for any donations of gently used books if you are spring cleaning or reorganizing. Our collection bins are open daily on the porch at 24 Wall Street (the first building on the left of the entrance to the parking lot.) The bins will remain open until before the September book sale.
Second, we need to organize and store the donations. We need volunteers to sort the books and shelve them before the sale. This is normally done twice weekly on Monday and Thursday mornings, and each session is approximately one to two hours.
Third, we need volunteers to set up the sales rooms and volunteers to staff the sales.
Finally, SLF needs Board Members to help us carry out our mission. We particularly need assistance with publicity and organizational tasks. If you would like to participate, please email Friends@scrantonlibrary.org indicating your interest. As always, we are grateful for your donations and always indebted to our volunteers.
