In the Best Interest
It takes a special person to be the chair of the Board of Education. That individual needs to possess a deep understanding of the culture of the town and an appreciation of the history of the community. They should be experienced with the roles and operations of an educational board. They must utilize clear communication skills in collaborating with the Superintendent to guide the Board in meeting student and family needs. They should be well-versed with knowledge of past and current educational practices in order to lead decision-making in planning for the future.
Dr. David Fitzgibbons possesses all of these attributes and qualifications. As a resident of Chester for over 50 years, he has an extensive understanding of the history of the town and its schools. As an experienced clinical psychologist, he is deeply knowledgeable about students' academic, social/emotional, and developmental needs. Dave was the former Board of Directors of Tri-Town Youth Services. He has been a member of the Chester Board of Education for 12 years, serving for the past eight years as its Chair.
As a member of the Chester Board of Education, I have found Dave to very capably communicate with the superintendent, conduct the meetings according to the required protocols, and encourage discussion and discourse when making fiscally responsible decisions. I have personally appreciated his wisdom and guidance. Most especially at the core of his leadership, Dave unwaveringly leads the board in the best interest of the current and future needs of the students and families of Chester Elementary School. I strongly urge you to reelect Dr. David Fitzgibbons to the Chester Board of Education.
