Always Cared About Branford
I’m writing in support of Shawn Tiernan for the Branford Board of Education.
I’ve lived my whole life in Branford, and I’ve known Shawn and the Tiernan family since I attended Branford High School with them in the 1970s.
Shawn’s a smart, skilled attorney who has spent his career looking out for indigent people in legal trouble. He’s empathetic and always there to help. That might in itself be enough to earn your vote. But that’s just a part of who he is.
Shawn’s curious and a quick study. He’s that guy who just knows a lot about all sorts of things. That’s because Shawn is very thoughtful and really makes a point to dive deep into issues he cares about.
And he’s always cared about Branford.
Shawn and his wife Cheryl have two children who both attended Branford public schools and have since graduated college. I know how proud they were of how well their kids did both in the classroom and out, in sports from soccer and baseball to hockey and sailing.
Those kids are now happy, successful adults. Shawn thinks a fair amount of the credit for that is the great education and support they got in Branford schools. As a Branford kid, Shawn considers himself lucky to have grown up here, too. He knows what a great school system we have in Branford, and he’ll work to make it better still for today’s kids and future kids.
I can’t think of anyone better to serve in this role. I urge you to vote for Shawn Tiernan for the Branford Board of Education on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
