Will Continue to Provide Leadership
I am Alan Hyla, and I am running to retain my seat on the Old Saybrook Board of Education (BOE). I believe and hope you will agree that my nine-plus years as a dedicated member of our board, the last four years serving as vice chair, will continue to serve our school district and community well.
I bring proven leadership and experience to our district and community, serving as chair of the facilities sub-committee while serving on policy and other ad hoc committees. I am a good listener, a strong communicator, a collaborator, and an effective decision-maker with a keen ability to navigate our complex school district’s five-year strategic plan.
Recently retired after 34 plus years in state government, most recently having managed program and staff development for the Judicial Branch. I am working part-time now for an international accreditation organization that supports behavioral health for youth and adults.
I am most appreciative of serving this community and believe that being an elected BOE member is one of the most important volunteer roles in our town. I understand the significance of making decisions regarding the public education of our most treasured possession, our children.
If re-elected, in my next term, I will continue to provide leadership that sets high standards for the education of all students, continue to support district goals that elevate our student’s abilities to succeed during their school years, and contribute to society in a meaningful and productive way; support our Superintendent of Schools and staff members in providing the best possible environment for all to thrive; and, support our community in meeting their expectations and aspirations for being a school district of distinction.
Please vote for me for the Old Saybrook Board of Education on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
Alan Hyla
