Knowledgeable, Experienced, and Compassionate
It is a pleasure for me to recommend the re-election of Jeannine Lewis for judge of probate for the Saybrook District. As the former judge for this district, I know what it takes to manage the court, and Judge Lewis has done an excellent job.
The Saybrook District is unique in that it consists of nine towns and thus has a wide variety and a large number of matters. Two qualities which are very important for this position are experience and compassion. Judge Lewis possesses both. Prior to taking office in 2018, she had extensive experience as a probate attorney, having been involved in a multitude of probate cases. While this position may look simple from the outside, once elected, you hear very complicated matters and it is too late at that point to try to get educated. These matters can often involve a person being conserved, determining parenthood, or interpreting the complex language of a will or trust, and often involve people when they are often at their most vulnerable. Since being elected, she has handled the cases before her with knowledge and compassion. In addition to her normal judicial duties, shortly after being elected, she had to guide the court through the pandemic. She managed to keep the court operating smoothly and efficiently, with very little backlog under very difficult conditions.
Judge Lewis has also been recognized by her peers by being appointed to the Executive Committee, where she not only represents the interests of her district, but she has input into the potential changes in procedures and statutes which govern the operation of the probate courts.
The Saybrook District is fortunate to have a judge who is as knowledgeable, experienced, and compassionate as Judge Lewis. She deserves your vote.
