Has Delivered on Her Promise
There are many reasons why I believe that Christine Cohen is an outstanding state senator, but in this letter, I will focus on one: her principled stance on environmental issues. Christine identified environmental issues as a key mission when she first ran for office, and she has delivered on her promise.
As co-chair of the Environmental Committee. Christine has authored legislation that led to passage of environmental protections that are to crucial to fight climate change. One of these was the bottle bill that has increased recycling of cans and bottles, reducing litter and blight. After its passage, I attended a clean-up event that Christine sponsored at Branford High School. My husband and I joined our Representative Town Meeting (RTM) member, Donna Laich, collecting bottles and other debris from the playing fields and the marsh. Many bags of debris were collected and Christine made sure that the bottles and cans were appropriately recycled.
Christine studied the problem, recommended a solution, advocated for its passage, and then recruited her constituents to participate in the process of addressing the problem. This commitment to finding common sense solutions is the kind of leadership that we need in Hartford. That is why I will vote for Christine Cohen for State Senator and Moira Rader for State Representative in November.
