Increase Voter Participation

I’m writing with respect to the Feb. 27 article “BOS Sets Date for School, Academy Referenda Despite Republican Objections to Procedure.” In particular, if this vote passes, it will dramatically impact residents’ taxes for the next two decades. As a result, it’s important that the vote is held simultaneously with the November presidential election as opposed to the current plan to conduct this vote one month earlier, in October.

This action will serve to save the town money (each voting event costs approximately $8,000), and will, more importantly, significantly increase voter participation. If your readers feel the same, I urge them to communicate their concern to the Board of Selectmen.
