A Great Many Ideas
I am running for a seat on the Clinton Board of Education because education is my expertise and my passion. I have been a Connecticut school counselor for more than 17 years. In that role, I have guided students and families in some of their most important educational and financial decisions. I successfully wrote a grant to increase school counseling services and volunteer on a committee that ties my high school more tightly with the needs of regional businesses.
As a Board of Finance member, I have endeavored to keep taxes as low as possible while maintaining essential services and helping the town reach its potential. I plan on continuing the fiscally prudent budgeting of the current Board of Education while ensuring our students are provided the knowledge and skills necessary for life and work in the 21st century.
I have a great many ideas on how to build upon the already-strong foundation our hard-working teachers have established for students. These include creating a school-to career pipeline with growing sectors in our state, emphasizing personal finance education, researching post-secondary outcomes for Morgan alumni, adding a social-emotional component to the curriculum at all levels, and rewarding faculty and staff for successful grant writing.
As a father of two, I am familiar with the many strengths of our school system as well as those areas where growth can occur. I feel my educational background and passion to give back to the community make an excellent match for the Clinton Board of Education. I ask for your readers’ vote this Nov. 5.
